PEORIA Ill. – A 14-year-old has been arrested in connection to a stolen handgun found in Peoria Wednesday.
A Peoria Police spokesperson tells us, at around 4:20pm, PPD’s Special Investigations Division observed a group of males gathered in the 800 block of West McBean Street.
As officers approached the group, they observed one of them walking away.
After following the teenager, PPD took him into custody without incident at MLK Park.
While conducting their search of the suspects walking path — officers located a discarded handgun with an extended magazine on the ground, which they say was reported stolen.
The suspect was transported to the Juvenile Detention Center — and is accused of Aggravated Unlawful Use of a Weapon, No
FOID, Possession of a Stolen Handgun, and Possession of a Handgun Under 21.
The investigation is ongoing.
