PEORIA, Ill. – A Peoria house must be torn down after a fire Thursday morning.
Firefighters responded to the house just after 7:45 A.M. to the area of Laveille and Glendale, finding heavy fire coming out of a single-story building.
Peoria Fire says crews initially had trouble getting inside the home because of a large amount of items inside the home, but the fire was under control within 15 minutes.
While enroute to the fire, crews learned of a person outside the home suffering from burns and smoke inhalation. They were taken to OSF Saint Francis for treatment.
No firefighters were injured.
Peoria Fire says the cause and origin of the fire is undetermined at this time, while code enforcement determined an emergency demolition was needed.
