PEORIA Ill. – You can see Muppets, Puppets, and Flags at the Peoria Riverfront Museum this weekend.
The museum unveiled two new exhibits Friday morning — titled “The Jim Henson Exhibition: Imagination Unlimited” and “Faces of a Nation: The American Political Textile Collection of Mark and Rosalind Shenkman.”
Museum President and CEO, John Morris, has high expectations for attendance numbers…
“I promised Mark Shenkman, that this community would show up in mass — at least 20,000 people — to see his flags. The most ever to see the flags, in any exhibits,” John Morris said.
Exhibits feature well-known puppet and Muppet characters — and the largest collection ever shown, on American political flags
Mark Shenkman, owner of the flag collection, attended the unveiling.
“So, on display here today, is 125 flags, banners, kerchiefs, plus torches and ballot boxes. Each item has a story behind it,” Mark Shenkman said.
Both exhibits officially open Saturday, at 10am, and will be on display through January 5th.
