UPDATED 10/1 5:55 A.M.
PEORIA, Ill. – A 10-year-old boy has been identified as the victim in a fatal shooting Sunday night at a Peoria apartment complex.
Peoria County Coroner Jamie Harwood says an investigation has determined that the address first provided for Lamar Johnson, II, 400 block of S. Grand Avenue in Springfield, Illinois, was that of one of his parents, but he actually was living with the other parent at CityScape Apartments on Romeo B Garrett.
Harwood says an autopsy showed Johnson, II, suffered a gunshot wound to the chest and likely died seconds after the shooting.
The shooting occurred just after 7:30 P.M. Sunday near the CityScape Apartments.
The case remains under investigation by Peoria Police, who have no suspects at this time.
