PEORIA, Ill. – An Iowa man will remain in jail after being found in Peoria this past weekend with a runaway girl that he allegedly sexually abused.
The Peoria County State’s Attorney’s Office says a petition to detain 28-year-old Shawn Carrell was granted Monday. He is charged with Aggravated Criminal Sexual Abuse and Harboring a Runaway.
19-year-old Ian Fifer is also charged with Harboring a Runaway in relation to the case. Fifer is also charged with Child Pornography after allegedly having nude photos of an underage female on his phone.
On Saturday morning, the Peoria County Sheriff’s Office received word from the Lee County Sheriff’s Office of a 15-year-old girl’s cell phone “pinging” in South Peoria. Deputies then reportedly found the girl with Carrell and Fifer.
The state’s attorney’s office says the pair picked up the girl on Thursday and drove to Peoria with her.
Carrell allegedly had sex with the girl, who had an active no-contact order against him.
Carrell is due back in court on October 24th for an arraignment hearing.

PEORIA Ill. – Two Iowa men arrested in Peoria, for numerous child pornography and endangerment charges.
Shawn M. Carrell and Ian J. Fifer were arrested Saturday morning, just after 11:30am, at a gas station on Lincoln Street.
The two were allegedly harboring a 15-year-old girl, who was reported missing in Lee County Iowa, last week.
Peoria County Sheriff’s Office was alerted by Iowa law enforcement, the girl’s phone was “pinging” in an area near Peoria, before making the arrests.
Carrell was arrested on preliminary charges of criminal sexual assault, violation of order of protection and harboring a runaway.
While Fifer, on preliminary charges of child pornography and harboring a runway — as well as having pictures of a nude underage female on his phone.
The investigation is ongoing.
