PEORIA Ill.- A fire Thursday morning displaced a family of seven — and killed three animals.
Limestone Fire Chief, Dale Hoerr, told 25NEWS, just after 9am — a neighbor called fire crews to the house located in the 34-hundred block of Freemont Street in Peoria.
When fire crews arrived, they noticed the bulk of the fire coming from the back side of the house, with more fire pouring out of the second floor.
It took fire crews about 45 minutes to put the fire out.
Once reaching the inside of the home, fire crews found two dogs — one who immediately ran out to safety.
The other dog, as well as two rabbits on the second floor, died in the fire.
Fire crews called the Red Cross to help the family with clothes and a place to stay.
Hoerr said the home was a total loss.
