PEORIA HEIGHTS, Ill. – Smoking materials is listed as the cause of a fire at a Peoria Heights residence.
Firefighters were dispatched to the house in the 5000 block of N. Best Street at 6:18 a.m. Saturday on a report of a porch and roof on fire.
They arrived to find smoke coming from the attic of the single-family one story residence and fire on the porch.
Officers on the scene advised firefighters that all occupants and animals were out of the house, confirmed by primary and secondary searches by fire crews.
The Red Cross was called to assist the occupants with housing.
There were no injuries among firefighters.
Dunlap and West Peoria firefighters assisted with manpower to help Peoria Heights firefighters.
