PEORIA, Ill. – The Peoria County Coroner says the death of an infant boy last month was due to cocaine intoxication.
Jaime Harwood announced Tuesday that was the cause of death for one-month-old Grayson Luncsford.
Grayson was found unresponsive by Peoria Police at an East Bluff home on September 16th, and pronounced dead at the scene.
Harwood says testing shows there was enough cocaine in Grayson’s system to list cocaine intoxication as the immediate cause of death. He says other factors in Grayson’s death included heat stress, dehydration, malnutrition, and neglect.
He says the reason cocaine got into Grayson is still under investigation by Peoria Police and the Peoria County Coroner’s Office.
Grayson’s mother, 26-year-old Andrea Luncsford of Chicago, was indicted Tuesday by a Peoria County grand jury in connection to his death. She was indicted on charges of Murder and Endangering Life or Health of Child.
Court documents show that Andrea Luncsford will be back in court for an arraignment hearing on Wednesday.
