PEORIA COUNTY, Ill. – With a little over two weeks until Election Day, Early Voting is going strong in Peoria County.
Peoria County Election Commission Executive Director Elizabeth Gannon says over 5,300 voters have cast their ballots with Early Voting.
“I think our Early Voting numbers are high, we’re doing well. They’re continuing to increase…we were averaging around 300 a day, now we’re up to around 500 a day, and I think that will continue to grow as we get closer to Election Day,” Gannon says.
Gannon says Early Voting is defined as in-person voting at the Election Commission Office or at any of its satellite sites.
On Monday (10/21), Early Voting is being offered at the Princeville Library for all Peoria County voters.
Tazewell County Clerk John Ackerman says Early Voting is very popular statewide.
“Everyone is seeing huge interest in this election, and wanting to make sure that their votes are cast. We’re seeing high numbers in Tazewell County, and of the projected total that I’m expecting for this year, we’re seeing about 16-percent of that vote has already been received,” Ackerman says.
To-date, nearly 11,000 voters in Tazewell County have cast their ballots ahead of the Presidential Election on November 5th.
Early Voting continues statewide through the Monday ahead of Election Day. You can also still request a Mail-In Ballot. The last day to request a Mail In ballot is October 31. Mail-In ballots must be postmarked by Election Day to count, but be received up to two weeks after Election Day.
If you haven’t registered to vote yet, you can register in-person and vote the same day through Election Day on November 5th.
