MORTON, Ill. – Just a week after a first-place finish at the Illinois Marching Band Championships in Normal, the Morton High School Marching Band came home with more honors this weekend from the Bands of America St. Louis Super Regional Competition.
Morton’s field show titled “Spinning Out” won the Class 2A competition and placed 10th overall in the finals, matching their best finish at the super regional. It was also the first time Morton’s marching band swept the caption awards in Class 2A for Best Music, Best Visual, and Best General Effect.
The Bands of America St. Louis Super Regional was held at the Dome at America’s Center. In all, 70 bands competed, 14 of them including Morton, competed in the finals Saturday night.
Morton’s competition season is now over, but the band will hold a “Community Night” performance Tuesday (10/29), at 7 p.m. at Morton High School’s Carper Field.
The Morton High School Marching Band travels next month to play at Disney’s Magic Kingdom in Florida on Thanksgiving Day.
