CREVE COEUR, Ill.. – A man suffered burns, and two cats died in a fire Monday morning in Creve Coeur.
Fire Chief Roger Ristow says crews were called to a home in the 400 block of S. Highland Avenue around 8:40 a.m. Monday, finding an attached garage fully engulfed in flames, with fire spreading to the back of the home.
A neighboring home also sustained damage from the fire, according to Ristow.
A male resident was taken to OSF St. Francis Medical Center with burns to his hands and feet.
Two other occupants of the home and a dog escaped the fire unharmed.
No firefighter injuries were reported at the scene.
East Peoria and North Pekin Fire Departments provided mutual aid in fighting the blaze.
The State Fire Marshal’s Office is investigating the cause of the fire. Damage is estimated at $40,000.
