PEORIA, Ill. – Firefighters were called to a home in the 300 block of East Forrest Hill Monday evening on reports of a fire.
Peoria Fire Battalion Chief Jeff Hascall says crews arrived around 5 p.m., finding smoking coming from the second story of the home.
Residents of the home were able to escape uninjured before firefighters arrived.
Crews stayed on the scene once the fire was out, checking for hot spots.
Fire investigators determined the cause of the fire was electrical.
Two residents were displaced by the fire. The Red Cross was called to assist the homeowners with temporary housing.
Damage to the home is estimated at $20,000.
No injuries were reported.
