PEORIA, Ill. – The Scottish Rite Theater in downtown Peoria, owned by Kim Blickenstaff’s KDB Group, is set to reopen for concerts and shows this spring.
According to the Peoria Journal Star, TempleLive Music Group has signed a lease agreement with KDB Group, with the option to buy the building down the road.
Beaty Capital Group, which owns TempleLive, hopes to open the Scottish Rite for events in March.
A lineup of upcoming shows at the Scottish Rite is expected to be announced in January.
TempleLive also runs entertainment venues in Ohio, Kansas, and Texas.
Peoria City Councilman Tim Riggenbach, whose 3rd District is home to the Scottish Rite, tells the Journal Star, the reopening of the venue will breathe life into that part of the city.
“I think it’s important we recognize the investment and vision that the Blickenstaff group had when they purchased and remodeled the Scottish Rite,” Riggenbach says. “To think that we have a new group coming in to carry on that vision, that’s going to be a win for all of us. That’s great for bringing more people into that part of town.”
The Scottish Rite Theater was put up for sale by KDB Group last April, along with other Blickenstaff properties in the Peoria area including Sankoty Lakes, the Peoria Armory building, and the Betty Jane Brimmer Center in Peoria Heights.
