At the Movies with Casey Foreman: “Heretic”
What do you believe in… and why…?
A24 continues to roll out bangers and it begs the question — are they the best production company in the game?
Hugh Grant is spectacular as the cynical Mr. Reed.
This is one of my favorite performances of the year — by far — because you never know what he’s about to say next, and you never know how it’s going to make you feel.
Uncomfortable — unsettling — and absolutely hilarious at times.
I won’t spoil anything but this movie is a must-watch based off his performance alone.
It is a slow-paced, dialogue-driven film as the two female missionaries make their way through Mr. Reeds twisted game.
The cinematography was incredible — the music did a great job of playing both sides of horror and humor – and the performance were top notch across the board.
This movie will have you questioning the institutions that you put your faith into — and tests the strength of individuals in the film and in the audience.
The ending is one that feels right and puts it in the hands of the viewers to decide ultimately what happens.
Heretic is something I’d definitely recommend for folks still wanting a little spookiness in their lives despite Halloween season being over.
Go see it in theaters!
