PEORIA Ill. – The man charged with Unlawful use of a weapon, after running from Peoria Police Saturday morning — will remain in jail until his trial.
According to Peoria County State’s Attorney, Jodi Hoos, a detention hearing took place today (Tuesday) for 31-year-old, Jacob Turner-Claudin.
Turner-Claudin allegedly fled on foot from Peoria Police officers, just after 12:30am Saturday morning, along with 28-year-old Martell Perkins, after being pulled over for a traffic stop.
Turner-Claudin was the passenger in the vehicle — and Police say he dropped a fully-automatic weapon while trying to flee.
He will remain in jail until his trial.
As for Perkins — he was on parole from the Illinois Department of Corrections and is currently being held in their custody while charges in his case are being reviewed.
PEORIA Ill. – Two men have been arrested after allegedly fleeing from police in reckless fashion — on Saturday, in Peoria.
Peoria Police say they conducted a traffic stop on a vehicle in the 2200 block of West Kettelle Street — just after 12:30am Saturday.
As officers approached the vehicle, the driver shifted into reverse and struck a patrol vehicle.
No one was injured — but the vehicle continued to flee at a high rate of speed — until it crashed into a fence in the 300 block of South Madison Park Terrace.
The driver — identified as 28-year-old Demetrius M. Perkins, and the passenger identified as 31-year-old Jacobi M. Turner-Claudin — then exited the vehicle and fled on foot.
After a brief foot chase, officers apprehended both males.
During a search of the subject’s flight path, officers located a discarded fully automatic firearm.
Turner-Claudin is being held on multiple weapons charges — and Perkins for several assault and reckless driving charges.
Both have been transported to the Peoria County Jail.
