PEORIA, Ill. – Peoria Police responded to a ShotSpotter alert Wednesday night on N. Avalon, indicating 11 shots were fired.
Sgt. Amy Dotson says just after 9 p.m., officers found a woman inside a vehicle who’d been shot in the neck. She was taken to a hospital with life-threatening injuries.
A child, also in the vehicle, sustained minor injuries from broken glass. A home on N. Avalon was hit by bullets during the incident.
Patrol officers and members of the Criminal and Special Investigations Divisions canvassed the area looking for witnesses, camera footage and any evidence.
PPD is asking residents to check their camera footage that may have captured the shooting, moments before it, or immediately after.
