NORMAL, Ill. – The Limestone Community High School girls’ volleyball team came a set short from becoming the best in Illinois.
The Rockets fell to Mahomet-Seymour in three sets in the Class 3A state championship match Saturday night at CEFCU Arena in Normal.
Limestone took the first set 25-22, but Mahomet-Seymour took set two by the same score, and the deciding third set 25-18.
Sophomore Mia Labertia led the way for Limestone with 18 points in the match, with 16 kills, 14 assists, and six digs.
Limestone defeated Crystal Lake Prairie Ridge in two sets Friday to make the state championship match.
This is the first state trophy in girls’ volleyball for Limestone.
