PEKIN Ill. – After more than 27-years of serving Tazewell County – Board Chair, David Zimmerman has officially led his final meeting.
He led his final meeting Wednesday night – with a short ceremony first taking place inside the Tazewell County Justice Center.
Zimmerman told us retiring, was a collaborative decision…
“It was a decision that my wife and I made together, my wife has just been an angel through this and just her patience — so together we decided that this season of life is over and we are going to move on to the next season of life, see where we go,” Zimmerman said.
Zimmerman wants to thank those who have supported him for so long.
“I think I would want to thank all of the citizens of Tazewell County, it has been a privilege to serve them. Hopefully we’ve been good with all of the resources allocated to us, and they’ve entrusted us. I’m so grateful in the confidence that they have had in me, and I hope to see them around in the community,” Zimmerman said.
Zimmerman was first elected as Board Chair in 2008 – and has served as a member since 1997.
Brett Grimm will take over as the new Board Chair, starting next month.
