PEORIA, Ill. – A Peoria woman has been arrested after allegedly claiming she worked for a local non-profit and taking toys meant for children in need.
Peoria Police say 37-year-old Mary Jane Davis was arrested at her home Thursday after an investigation.
Police say Davis pretended to work for House of Hope, but did not work for the organization.
Police recovered around $15,000 worth of toys at her residence, with a small amount of toys missing.
Davis was arrested on charges of Deceptive Practices and Forgery, and taken to the Peoria County Jail.
