PEORIA HEIGHTS Ill. – The married couple that died in the house-fire in Peoria Heights Thursday, has been identified.
In an autopsy Friday, Peoria County Coroner, Jamie Harwood, identified the two as 69-year-old Dennis Quitschau and his wife 68-year-old Gayle “Diane” Quitschau.
The preliminary report shows immediate and severe smoke inhalation, rendering them unconscious and fully incapacitated; they then sustained burns to approximately 90% of their total body surface area.
Once firefighters arrived on scene, in the area of California and Marietta, they found the husband, deceased.
The wife was rushed to OSF Healthcare Saint Francis Medical Center, unresponsive, and was pronounced dead at 1:53pm, at the hospital.
The cause of the fire is still being investigated.
