PEORIA, Ill. – Gas prices continue falling in the Peoria area.

The average is 12.1 cents lower than a month ago, and 14.8 cents lower than a year ago.

Analysts believe prices will continue to keep falling across the country, where the national average is below three dollars for the first time in more than 1300 days. GasBuddy is reporting the national average at $2.97/g on Monday, down 3.1 cents in the past week.
“The good news is that we’ll likely continue to see additional downward pressure on gas prices, with the national average potentially falling another 10 to 15 cents by Christmas,” said Patrick De Haan, head of petroleum analysis at GasBuddy.
Across Illinois, GasBuddy is reporting an average of $3.11/g, down 8.8 cents from last week. In its own survey, AAA has the state average at $3.15/g, down 5.4 cents in the past week.
