PEORIA, Ill. – A homeless man has been arrested in connection to a fire at a Peoria hospital early Saturday morning.
25 News reports 78-year-old Larry Peterson started the fire near the entry way of Carle Health Methodist because he reportedly believed it was concrete and would not burn.
Police say Peterson is known to the fire department because he has started other fires in the past.
Fire crews were called to Carle at around 6:00 A.M., when Peterson allegedly started the fire with paper, sticks, and a bed sheet.
In addition to damage to an exterior wall, smoke and water damage occurred on the interior of the building.
Peterson is charged with arson, criminal damage to property, criminal trespass to land, and reckless conduct.
