PEORIA, Ill. – Peoria Public Schools Superintendent Dr. Sharon Desmoulin-Kherat has been named a finalist for the 2025 National Superintendent of the Year Award by the American Association of School Administrators.
Kherat’s nomination comes after her recent recognition as Illinois’ 2025 Superintendent of the Year.
Dr. Kherat will be travelling to Washington, D.C. for a final candidate interview in early January.
In response to the announcement, Dr. Desmoulin-Kherat said, “I am deeply humbled by this recognition, but it is not mine alone. This sort of recognition is a testament to the amazing hard work and dedication of the Board of Education, each staff member, and our community partners. Their unwavering support and commitment to our students’ success is the true driving force behind this honor. Together, we will continue to re-imagine education that ignites passions and empowers students to be responsible and successful.”
The winner of the 2025 National Superintendent of the Year will be announced live during AASA’s National Conference on Education, March 6-8 in New Orleans, Louisiana.
