ELMWOOD, Ill. – An Elmwood man has been arrested after allegedly firing a weapon into a residential neighborhood last month.
Peoria County Sheriff Chris Watkins says deputies were dispatched to the area Daniels and Ash Saturday afternoon.
They were shown a video of a male, later identified as 27-year-old Christopher Coulter, firing a gun from the back of his house.
Neighbors had told deputies the incident reportedly occurred on November 22nd, and Elmwood Police were called.
Detectives obtained a search warrant because of Coulter being a felon, having an active order of protection, and firing a weapon into a neighborhood.
The Central Illinois Emergency Response Team responded and attempted to get Coulter to come out of the home, with the agency breaching the front door after negotiations failed.
Coulter surrendered at around 9:30 P.M.
Coulter was arrested on charges of Aggravated Discharge of a Firearm, Unlawful Possession of a Weapon by a Felon, Reckless Discharge of a Firearm, and Violation of an Order of Protection. Sheriff Chris Watkins says it’s Coulter 4th time being arrested in Peoria County this year.
Coulter was taken to the Peoria County Jail.
