At the Movies with Casey Foreman: “Nosferatu”
A sick and twisted love story – perfect for Christmas Day – and those with a strong stomach.
Robert Eggers delivers in this classic remake of Nosferatu.
The cinematography is great, the story is great, as are the uncomfortable situations Eggers is constantly putting the audience into.
Count Orlock was unforgivably and unregrettably my favorite character – stealing every scene he’s in.
Bill Skarsgård provides yet another classic villain depiction, dare I say his best performance yet.
Lilly-Rose Depp stepped up and delivered a great performance – redeeming of her prior, lacking ones.
I’m not sure there are many other people that could’ve done as good a job considering the script, practical effects, and pressure of the role.
Holt is great again and it’s clear why he’s getting casted in about everything hitting the screen, both in the theaters and on streaming services.
The ending could be slightly anticlimactic for some viewers, but I enjoyed it, and thought it was very fitting considering the sequences leading up to it.
I’d recommend to all fans of Robert Eggers and classic horror tales.
Wish it was in IMAX!!
SPOILER WARNING: Nosferatu’s mustache did not have to go THAT hard.
