PEKIN Ill. – A man and woman from Pekin are in jail and charged in connection with the drug overdose death of another Pekin woman.
According to 25news — 31-year-old Zachary Cotham and 27-year-old Shayanne Whitener were arrested on December 18th on preliminary charges of drug-induced homicide and unlawful delivery of a controlled substance.
Whitener is accused of allegedly selling another woman heroin laced with fentanyl on November 13th — while Cotham is accused of allegedly delivering those drugs to that woman who later died.
Court documents show Whitener is allegedly a known heroin dealer in the Pekin area and Cotham told investigators that the heroin she used for herself looked different than the heroin she would package and give him to deliver.
