PEORIA, Ill. – A Peoria County grand jury has indicted an Elmwood man accused of firing a weapon into a neighborhood.
27-year-old Christopher Coulter was indicted Monday on charges of reckless discharge of a firearm, and violation of order of protection.
Court documents allege that Coulter communicated with someone that had an order of protection against him on November 23rd. He also allegedly fired a weapon on December 21st that endangered the safety of an individual.
Peoria County Sheriff’s deputies attempted to take him into custody the same day, with Coulter eventually surrendering after negotiations were unsuccessful.
Coulter’s next court date is set for January 15th.
The grand jury also indicated a homeless man accused of setting a Peoria hospital on fire.
78-year-old Larry Peterson was indicted Monday on one count of arson.
Peterson allegedly started the fire near the entry way of Carle Health Methodist with paper, sticks, and a bed sheet on the morning of December 14th.
The fire damaged an exterior wall, and caused smoke and water damage to the building’s interior.
Peterson is due back in court on January 9th.
