PEORIA, Ill. – Firefighters were called to a home on N. Springdale Avenue early Tuesday morning for a fire.
Fire Battalion Chief Ryan Calhoun says when crews arrived around 2:15 a.m., they found smoke inside the home, then fire inside an interior wall that extended to the ceiling and second floor.
Firefighters opened up walls and the ceilings, exposing the fire. It took them about 15 minutes to bring the fire under control. Crews remained on-scene to put out multiple hotspots.
A fire investigator determined the fire’s cause and origin were unintentional. Damage is estimated at $50,000.
Three people were alerted by a smoke detector and got out safely before firefighters arrived.
No firefighter injuries were reported.
