PEORIA, Ill. – There were no injuries after a Sunday morning fire on Peoria’s South Side.
Crews arrived just after 9:30 A.M. to the area of Charlton and 4th Street.
Upon arrival, they spotted smoke coming from the second floor, and fire on the exterior of the house’s rear.
Crews battled low visibility and significant heat, but had the fire under control in about 15 minutes.
One person and three dogs in the home escaped safely before fire crews arrived.
A fire investigator determined the cause of the fire was unintentional.
Damage is estimated at $40,000.
