PEORIA, Ill. – An arrest has been made in a fatal hit-and-run incident in South Peoria more than a week ago.
Peoria Police say 36-year-old Demoriel Sims was identified as a suspect in the case of the fatal crash in the early morning hours of January 13th.
The crash occurred in the area of Martin Luther King Junior Drive and Cedar Avenue just after 1:00 A.M., where 38-year-old Quentin Shinkle of Peoria was struck by a vehicle.
Shinkle passed away this past Saturday from his injuries.
Sims was arrested Thursday after he was interviewed by police.
He is charged with Felony Crash Involving Death, Failure to Report and Accident Involving Injury or Death, Failure to Render Aid, Failure to Notify Police of a Crash, and Operation of a Motor Vehicle with a Suspended Registration.
Sims was taken to the Peoria County Jail.
