PEORIA, Ill. – A man accused in the shooting death of his girlfriend at a Peoria apartment complex earlier this month has been indicted by a grand jury.
The grand jury indicted 45-year-old Derreck Hall on Tuesday of First Degree Murder and Unlawful Possession of a Firearm by a Repeat Felony Offender.
Hall is due back in court on February 20th for an arraignment hearing.
Hall is charged in the death of 37-year-old Latrista Warfield at The Grove Apartment Complex, the first homicide in Peoria in 2025.
Warfield was found by police lying in a pool of blood the morning of January 19th in a second floor hallway at the complex.
Prosecutors say Warfield was shot six times and pronounced dead at the scene.
Hall turned himself into police later in the evening.
