KNOX COUNTY, Ill. – Part of Interstate 74, near mile marker 63 in Knox County, was closed early Thursday morning due to a crash that left two people dead.
Illinois State Police says at approximately 3:12 a.m. on Eastbound I-74, a car hit another vehicle head on.
Both drivers were pronounced dead at the scene, and a passenger in one of the vehicles was life-flighted to a hospital with life-threatening injuries.
Eastbound and westbound traffic on I-74 was shut down briefly to land the medivac helicopter.
All lanes of traffic have been reopened.
