PEORIA, Ill. – Most of the Peoria area only received a couple inches of snow in Wednesday’s winter storm.
Estimates from the National Weather Service show most of the area received anywhere between 1-3”.
The highest amount reported was 3”, in both Metamora and rural Groveland.
Morton received around 2.6”, with Peoria and Washington receiving about 2” each.
Wednesday’s winter weather will not be the last chances of snow this week, with more in the forecast for Friday and Saturday.
With winter weather out of the way, Peoria’s Snowfighters are continuing to clear the city’s roads.
Peoria Public Works’ Nick McMillion says the city’s main arterial roads are in good condition and driveable.
He says work on neighborhood streets started Thursday morning, through the clearing and treatment of those roads.
McMillion says snow plows will remain on around-the-clock operations until further notice.
The city is still urging drivers to be cautious as they travel, as some roads remain partially snow-covered and slick, but conditions will improve throughout the day.
