PEORIA Ill. – A teenager has been charged with Armed Robbery after allegedly robbing a sanitation worker at gunpoint, Thursday, in Peoria’s East Bluff.
According to Peoria County’s State’s Attorneys, the state’s petition to detain the 16-year-old whose identity has not been revealed, was granted Friday, the defendant will remain in custody at the Peoria County Juvenile Detention Center.
Around 4 PM on Thursday, police responded to an armed robbery in the alley of the 2700 block of North Missouri.
Upon arrival, the victim informed officers that he was dumping a trash can into his garbage truck when three individuals approached him.
One suspect pointed a gun at the victim’s face and told him to raise his hands.
The suspect then handed the gun to another individual, later identified as the defendant, and told him to shoot the victim if he moved.
While the defendant held the victim at gunpoint, the first suspect stole the victim’s wallet, car keys, reflective jacket, and phone.
The three suspects then fled the scene.
While officers were patrolling the area, they apprehended the defendant, who the victim identified during a show-up as one of the individuals involved in the robbery.
The investigation is ongoing.
