WOODFORD COUNTY, Ill. – One person is dead after multiple vehicle crashes on Interstate 74 near Goodfield early Monday morning.
Woodford County Sheriff’s Chief Deputy Dennis Tipsword says the first crash was called in just before 5:00 A.M. in the eastbound lanes near mile maker 112.
He says an eastbound vehicle hit a guard rail, then the overpass of the Goodfield exit, with the vehicle resting in the roadway.
One male, the only person in the vehicle, was found deceased in that vehicle by deputies upon their arrival.
A second vehicle had hit the first vehicle and was stopped in the roadway. The sole person in that vehicle was taken to a local hospital with non-life threatening injuries.
The Woodford County Coroner is on the scene.
Tipsword says eastbound I-74 traffic is exiting at Goodfield, then getting right back on the interstate.
The crash remains under investigation.
