PEORIA, Ill. – Around 8:50 a.m. Wednesday, the Peoria Fire Department responded to a house fire on W. Columbia Terrace.
Fire Battalion Chief Ryan Calhoun says crews found light smoke coming from a second-story window when they arrived. Once inside, they found a locked door on the second floor that was hot to the touch.
A small fire on the floor was put out quickly.
At the time of the fire, four people were in the home, but they evacuated before crews arrived.
A fire investigator determined the fire was unintentional. Damage was estimated at $30,000.
No injuries were reported at the scene.
