CHILLICOTHE, Ill. – There were no injuries after a fireplace failure reportedly caused damage to a Chillicothe home Thursday morning.
Chillicothe Fire Chief Tom Shubert says crews were called to the area of Louise and Hazel just after 11:00 A.M.
Crews found smoke and flames coming from a side roof of the single-story home, with the fire spreading to the home’s attic and eaves.
Firefighters put the flames out quickly, and remained on scene for an hour to put out hot spots.
Shubert says both the home’s occupants were able to escape.
He says crews from Peoria Heights, Dunlap, Akron-Princeville, and Lacon-Sparland assisted.
