WEST PEORIA, Ill. – Peoria County deputies shut down part of Farmington Road Wednesday evening after a car crashed into a building.
Peoria County Sheriff Chris Watkins says just before 6:45 p.m., a female driver struck the eastside of the Baer Glass building at 2416 W. Farmington Road.
The woman’s Ford Mustang was halfway inside the building when police arrived. The car had been traveling westbound on Farmington Road when the crash occurred, Watkins says.
The 47-year-old woman suffered serious but non-life-threatening injuries in the crash. She was taken by the West Peoria Fire Department to OSF Saint Francis Medical Center.
Watkins says the cause of the crash is still under investigation, but it appears it was likely a medical incident.
