PEORIA, Ill. – Peoria firefighters responded to a residential fire early Tuesday morning on S. Charles Street.
Fire Battalion Chief Larry Carter says when crews arrived around 12:15 a.m., they found fire at the back of the house. Their quick response prevented the fire from spreading into the home’s interior, the second story, and the roof.
A search of the home confirmed that no one was inside. It was vacant when the fire broke out.
The fire was brought under control in about 15 minutes.
A fire investigator determined the cause and origin of the fire was arson.
Damage was estimated at $10,000.
No injuries were reported.
