PEORIA, Ill. – A Peoria County grand jury has indicted two people for First Degree Murder in connection to the death of a 13-month-old.
27-year-old Nausicca Thomas and and 26-year-old Tasheaunna Williams were each also indicted Tuesday on an Aggravated Battery charge.
Thomas and Williams are charged in connection to the death of 13-month-old Hezekiah Williams on December 27th last year.
Hezekiah was taken to OSF Medical Center unresponsive on December 19th after prosecutors say Hezekiah was given the adult medicine ZZZQuil.
Peoria County Coroner Jamie Harwood said Hezekiah had suffered evidence of “gross physical abuse and neglect.”
Thomas and Tasheaunna Williams were arrested in Morton on January 10th in connection to the death.
The Peoria County State’s Attorney’s Office says a petition to detain Thomas and Williams has been filed.
