PEORIA Ill. – Two women accused in the death of a one-month-old child in Peoria this past December will remain behind bars after a detention hearing Thursday.
The Peoria County State’s Attorney’s Office says 26-year-old Tasheaunna Williams and 27-year-old Nausicca Thomas have been charged with First Degree Murder.
They are charged in the death of 13-month-old Hezekiah Williams.
Prosecutors say Tasheaunna is the mother of Hezekiah, and was in a relationship with Thomas.
Police were called to the OSF regarding an unresponsive infant on December 19th.
Once they arrived, they determined that Hezekiah was given an adult sleep aid, because he would not stop crying.
Hezekiah died December 27th.
Prosecutors say Hezekiah was reportedly severely malnourished and had a lacerated spleen, along with several other lacerations on his body.
Williams and Thomas are due back in court on May 1st.
