EAST PEORIA, Ill. – The future of student housing at Illinois Central College in East Peoria is up in the air.
The college’s Student Housing LLC is not leasing any housing for the complex after the Spring 2025 semester.
An email from President Doctor Sheila Quirk-Bailey says the decision came after the LLC learned that upgrades and repairs, which includes replacing stairs, would drain the financial reserves.
The LLC attempted to secure additional funding for the upgrades, but was not successful.
The current housing complex is home to nearly 250 students, with about 100 graduating after this semester in May, leaving the rest in search of a new home.
The college has held two public forums for students currently living in the complex.
