NASHVILLE, Tenn. โ A father and son from central Illinois were killed in a chain reaction crash early Thursday morning in Nashville, Tennessee.
The Metropolitan Nashville Police Department says the crash occurred at around 1:15 A.M. on Interstate 24 near the Rutherford County line.
Police say 25-year-old Daniel Caravaca-Bonilla was driving a Ram pickup truck that allegedly crashed into the back of a Chevrolet Silverado at a high-rate of speed. The Silverardo then crashed into an Infiniti QX50, which struck a Ford Fusion, which crashed into a Chevrolet Malibu.
The occupants of the Silverado, 72-year-old William Parrott of Peoria and 45-year-old Bradley Parrott of Washington, died at the scene of the crash. No other injuries were reported.
Police say traffic was slowing down due to an approaching construction zone and vehicles were merging into the far left lane when the crash occurred.
Police say open alcohol containers were found inside Caravaca-Bonillaโs truck, and allegedly showed signs of impairment but refused testing. A search warrant was obtained for a blood draw with results pending.
Caravaca-Bonilla is facing charges of vehicular homicide by intoxication, seven counts of aggravated assault, DUI, handgun possession while under the influence, and implied consent violation.
He remains in jail on a bond of $580,000.
