PEORIA, Ill. – The former Avanti’s location near Bradley University will soon be razed, as the university moves forward with plans to develop a green space there.
The university announced on Friday it’s ready to begin developing renderings on what the property at Main and University will look like.
The property was obtained in January of 2023, with the goal to turn the spot into a public green space.
Bradley’s Libby Derry says the area is a “threshold” of the university.
“The West Bluff has these beautiful historic homes, and having a spot where people come up to it, and it’s just this welcoming area on that corner, I think is a really big deal,” Derry said.
Derry says some of the plans feature shade trees, prairie grasses, and perennials.
There’s no current timeline on when construction will begin on the green space.
