PEORIA, Ill. โ A Peoria man has been sentenced to more than 12 years in federal prison after pleading guilty to distributing methamphetamine.
31-year-old Romel Turner pleaded guilty in August of 2024 to two counts of distribution of 50 grams or more of methamphetamine.
Turner has been in the custody of the Illinois Department of Corrections since January 2024.
At the sentencing hearing, evidence showed that Turner was sentenced in Peoria County to six years in the Illinois Department of Corrections in October of 2023 for unlawful possession of methamphetamine.
He was to surrender in January of 2024, but was found to have distributed methamphetamine at least three times in December of 2023.
The judge ordered the federal term be served consecutive to his current state prison sentence.
