PEORIA, Ill. – Bradley University will officially welcome new President James Shadid on Tuesday with a celebration at Renaissance Coliseum.
Shadid tells WMBD’s “Greg and Dan”, he spent his first week on campus trying to get to know everyone.
“I think I’m a pretty visible and engaged person anyway, but I’ve been really visible and engaged on campus…moving around, introducing myself, visiting with students, visiting with staff, visiting with faculty members,” Shadid says.
Shadid says so far, he’s feeling good about his new job.
“I’m feeling like there’s a lot of positive energy right now, but I still feel like people are still a little anxious. I know that moving around and introducing myself isn’t going to fix, or solve the problems. There are some tensions on campus, some cultures that I think we will definitely improve upon. And, I think actually we will have a great culture,” Shadid says.
The university says the welcome event on Tuesday is a chance for Bradley students, faculty, staff, alumni, and the community to meet President Shadid.
Shadid and several others will speak during the celebration on campus at Renaissance Coliseum, Tuesday from 2-4 p.m.
