PEORIA, Ill. – One Peoria city council race got closer, while the gap grew larger in another, after the first batch of mail-in ballots.
Peoria County Election Commission Executive Director Elizabeth Gannon says 2,035 mail-in ballots were counted on Tuesday for the consolidated elections.
She says about 80 provisional ballots still need to be added, while mail-ins can be received up to next Tuesday. The election results will be certified on April 16th
Alex Carmona still holds a lead in District Two over Estrella Diaz, but his lead is now down to 49 votes from 73 after Election Night. The race in District Two is to replace Chuck Grayeb on the council.
District Four incumbent Andre Allen’s lead over Jamie Messmore grew from 79 votes to 125.
