PEORIA, Ill. – A juvenile was shot in Peoria Tuesday night in the area of MacArthur Highway and John Gwynn Jr. Avenue.
Police were patrolling the area around 11 p.m., when they found a 14-year-old male lying in the street with an apparent gunshot wound to the leg.
Minutes later, a ShotSpotter alert indicated five shots had been fired in the area.
The teen was taken to a hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.
PPD says a person of interest was taken into custody for questioning, but was later released.
Police have no suspects at this time. The incident remains under investigation.
