PEORIA, Ill. โ A third round of explosives will highlight the continuation of the McClugage Bridge construction project.
The Illinois Department of Transportation (IDOT) says the next round of explosives on the old eastbound bridge span is scheduled for April 16.
Roads near the McClugage Bridge, which carries U.S. 150 over the Illinois River, will close at approximately 9:30 a.m. April 16.
The explosives will be detonated once the roads are closed, the security perimeter is deemed safe, and the contractor has performed its final safety checks. The anticipated blast is scheduled to occur between 9:30 a.m. and 10 a.m., but the time could vary.
Anyone wishing to watch the demolition in person is reminded that a security perimeter around the blast area will be in effect on land and water. Pedestrians are also asked to be mindful of venturing onto private property without the ownerโs permission.
This will be the third of eight planned detonations to remove components of the old eastbound McClugage Bridge. This blast will demolish a portion of the steel girders on the East Peoria side.
