PEORIA, Ill. โ A familiar face is set to lead the Peoria Citizens Committee for Economic Opportunity.
On Friday, leaders of the PCCEO announced that Denise Moore will be the agencyโs next CEO.
The organizationโs board of directors unanimously approved Moore for the job.
Moore, who served on the PCCEO board from 2013-2021, and served two terms on the Peoria City Council, will also remain CEO of Peoriaโs Minority Business Development Center.
Moore takes on the leadership of the PCCEO at a time when the agency has faced some significant challenges, including administrative changes, high turn over, and complaints from the community regarding leadership and mismanagement.
The PCCEO has had five CEOs, three of whom served in an interim capacity, since CEO McFarland Bragg stepped down in 2022.
Moore says she is determined to face PCCEOโs challenges head on.
โI am keenly aware of the challenges facing the agency and feel confident that with community support we can right the ship,โ Moore said in a release.
Moore knows the organizationโs challenges, and says change will take some time.
โItโs a process. We have to get a handle on finances and re-affirm our relationships with community partners,โ Moore said. โMoreso, I want our team to feel appreciated and clients to know that weโre working hard to provide outstanding service to the community.โ
